WHAT IS A TROLL?

This blog was created to expose Trolls.
What is a Troll?

The Wikipedia definition states: A troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement.
Psychology Today published a study that confirms what I, and many other blog owners, already knew: Internet trolls are horrible people.
This study also states there is no purpose behind a troll’s comments, except to try and upset everyone else. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.
What kind of person is a troll (other than them being horrible people, I mean)?
Canadian research conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people. They gave personality tests to each along with a survey about their internet commenting behavior. The researchers were looking for evidence that linked trolls with the “Dark Tetrad” of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism. And there are links between those personality disorders and Trolls.

So, in short, Trolls are worse than horrible.
In today’s times, it’s easy to harass others. You can do it from your basement or kitchen, behind a computer screen with a made up moniker. You can call other people nasty, disgusting names with no fear of getting caught. And that’s the very sad part. Trolls have no backbone. Not guts. No honor. They would never act in person how they act on-line. They are afraid, so they hide.

So, how do you combat a Troll? You don’t feed it. Put your web page or blog on comment moderation and as soon as you see a comment from said Troll, don’t read it, immediately transfer it to your spam folder. Don’t delete the comments; you may need them in the future.

And never take a Troll seriously. They name-call and project. If they are liars, they will call you a liar. If they are deceptive, they will say you are deceptive. They will even insult your appearance. They are very sick individuals. And in their warped minds, they don’t realize their opinion matters less than fly poop to you. But they have a very bad self-image, so they thrash out at everyone else in the hopes they’ll feel better about themselves.

It’s quite pathetic, really. Imagine having a life where you hate yourself so much you have to attack others. You lie so much that you actually believe your lies. You have no social life, no one who cares about you, and you have no loyal friends—that’s a sad, useless existence, to be sure.

So, don’t feed the Trolls. And certainly don’t pay any attention to what they type.

 Ignore them.

As I said, they matter less than fly poop.
